Jim Carrey, our favorite funny man, was born on January 17, 1962, in the little town of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. His career as a stand-up comedian began in nearby Toronto where Jim regularly brought the house down at various comedy clubs throughout the city.
As a legitimate A-lister, Carrey closed out the millennium by making $44.5 million in 1999, according to Forbes. All told, Carrey’s films — including “Bruce Almighty”, his top-grossing film, having earned $484 million worldwide — have earned $4.9 billion across the globe.
In 2013 he published a children’s book, How Roland Rolls, about an ocean wave whose realization of mortality makes him afraid to reach the beach. The work was a huge success, even earning its author a Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Award.
